Dynamic Symmetry is a system of proportions developed by Jay Hambidge (1867-1924), a Canadian-born American artist, who was inspired by the compositions of ancient Greek art. His compositional method was adopted by several notable artists in the early 20th century. The system begins with a ‘dynamic rectangle’ that is filled with a series of diagonals and rectangles to establish points of visual impact.
